I remember reading that Smallville producer’s declared early on that this Clark Kent would never wear the iconic red and blue suit and would never fly. Um, OK. I’m guessing they made that statement before they realized that the show would run for 10 seasons and fans would expect a bigger payoff at the end of the run.
I’m still a fan. The Superman prequel may have reinvented some of the DC mythology, but in season 10 we were able to grow with Clark as he eventually met his destiny. For me, the series finale gave me everything I wanted. There was just the right mixture of revisiting favorite characters and moments from the series, and the surprising, yet inevitable, meetup with Lex Luthor before that very last shot that we had all been waiting for!
