According to MusicRooms.com, the actor is taking action to prevent himself being mobbed by fans when he attends the sci-fi convention in San Diego. It seems that anyone attending this year’s Comic-Con event may spot actor Elijah Wood there, but only if they can see through his disguise. The Hobbit star is a self-professed sci-fi and fantasy geek, but is always mobbed by film buffs whenever he attends the biggest gathering of enthusiasts in San Diego, so this year he has decided the best way to avoid the fans is to dress up as a superhero.  MORE

Free download of new Tesla Graphic Novel’s 1st chapter!

Helios Entertainment has partnered with comic publisher Arcana to officially release the first highly anticipated graphic novel “The Inventor: The Story of Tesla” at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego taking place July 12th-15th.

For a limited time only, Tesla fans can receive a free download of the comic’s Chapter One preview. Pre-orders of the full graphic novel, which is scheduled to be released this summer at Comic-Con at the Arcana booth, will be available in paperback and digital download at: www.TheInventorSeries.com.

“The Inventor: The Story of Tesla” is the first graphic novel in a series on ground-breaking modern inventors in the 19th and 20th century. The 150-page six-chapter comic illustrates how one man, Nikola Tesla, stood against the goliaths of industry and changed the world with nothing but his mind, passion, and vision for a better humanity.

“I was inspired by the true story of Tesla and wanted to empower kids and adults to make a difference in the world with the power of their mind just as Tesla did,” said Ravé Mehta, creator and head of Helios Entertainment. “‘The Inventor’ is a graphic novel that doesn’t have the blood and violence traditionally seen in comics; it’s more of a thought-provoking human drama of the real battle that took place between Tesla and Edison as they fought to invent the 20th century and set a new course for humanity.”

Tesla has been a seminal influence on some of today’s most dynamic and creative minds. In 2011, Google CEO and Co-founder Larry Page referred to Nikola Tesla as his childhood hero at the Google Zeitgeist Conference, and called him “the greatest inventor you could imagine.”

Some inspired Tesla fans and marketers have adopted his name to brand such progressive products as electric cars (Tesla Motors) and sophisticated graphic processors for high-end science and engineering computer applications (NVIDIA Tesla GPUs). There’s even an American hard rock band, Tesla, who named themselves after the inventor because he pioneered the radio.

Helios Entertainment plans on using the graphic novel to generate interest and audience feedback to help shape ‘The Inventor’ World which will include games, apps, and a film that’s currently under development.

Zombie Apocalypse! The Walking Dead Escape experience to debut at Petco Park during San Diego Comic-Con July 12-14, 2012

Robert Kirkman, the creator/writer of The Walking Dead comic book series and graphic novels and www.Skybound.com  announce their first event, The Walking Dead Escape: San Diego.  In conjunction with the release of the Eisner Award-winning The Walking Dead Issue #100 at San Diego Comic-Con, the event takes place July 12 -14 at Petco Park, centrally located near the San Diego Convention Center. Registration is now open at www.TheWalkingDeadEscape.com. There are three ways to participate in this epic adventure. Participants can be a Survivor and race through the zombie infested evacuation zone; a Walker who becomes one of the undead, embracing the inevitable; or a Spectator who watches the apocalypse from sidelines at the Escape Party.

The Walking Dead Escape: San Diego is unlike any obstacle course event in the U.S., expanding on the best-selling The Walking Dead comic book series and graphic novel storylines, allowing Survivors and Walkers to explore the initial days of the apocalypse.

“Our fans have been reading about it, watching it and now they get to live it with The Walking Dead Escape,” said Robert Kirkman. “We are literally transforming Petco Park into the early days of society’s collapse and San Diego is just the first city to fall.”

Survivors will climb, crawl and slide in an effort to avoid confrontation by hordes of Walkers, while achieving the ultimate adventure on The Walking Dead-themed obstacle course. The Walking Dead Escape is not a race, and Survivors are not timed, but the end is near, and they must move swiftly. If they’re lucky, Survivors will reach the decontamination zone at the end where it will be determined if they have been infected.

Whether taking part in the event as a Survivor, Walker or Spectator, participants will be amazed at the interactive displays and The Walking Dead references along the course. Early registration is strongly recommended, as walk-ups may not be available on event day.  This summer The Walking Dead will be taking over Petco Park and fans will have a front row seat to the real-life action event of a lifetime.

Joss Whedon’s long, funny thank you to fans!

“Well, it’s been quite a weekend. Someday, long from now, I will even have an emotional reaction to it, like a person would. I can’t wait! But before I become blinded by this “emotion” experience, there’s a few things I’d like to say. Well, type. People have told me that this matters, that my life is about to change. I am sure that is true. And change is good — change is exciting. I think — not to jinx it — that I may finally be recognized at Comiccon.”
