If you are a T-Mobile customer, hopefully, you are aware of all the perks available as part of your subscription, as it could potentially save you hundreds of dollars on other services including some of the most popular streaming services. 

Currently Netflix on Us and Apple TV Plus on Us are available to many T-Mobile customers for free as part of their monthly offers through the carrier,  but now Hulu on US is joining the mix starting on Jan. 24.

This is the Hulu (With Ads) subscription and we are still trying to confirm whether there is an option to pay the difference to upgrade to the ad-free option, but at $7.99 a month or $95.88 for the year, that is still a valuable bonus for subscribers either way.

How to get Hulu for free on T-Mobile

So what's the catch? Unlike Netflix on Us and Apple Plus on Us, this new Hulu on Us offer is limited to customers on T-Mobile's Go5G Next plan. That's the most expensive plan offered by the carrier, so if you weren't already a Go5G Next subscriber you'll need to do some math on whether upgrading makes sense to take advantage of this and the many other offers available as part of that tier. 

Bottom line

As a T-Mobile customer and a Hulu subscriber, I perked up when I first saw this offer, but the combination of the Go5G Next plan requirement and the fact that it is only the ad-supported Hulu tier pretty quickly deflated my interest. 

Go5G Next is a solid value, but I'm grandfathered in on an older T-Mobile plan that they no longer offer, so your mileage will vary there. The second part is the real killer for me as I pay for the ad-free tier on Hulu and can't imagine switching to the ad-supported plan. Now T-Mobile did announce alongside this that its Netflix on Us plan will switch to the Standard with Ads plan starting on Jan. 24 as well, and that does have the option to pay the difference for the ad-free tiers, so there's hope that Hulu on Us will mirror that.

While those details are a sticking point for me, there's no question that a new nearly $ 100-a-year perk is a great value add by T-Mobile for its Go5G Next customers. If you are on a T-mobile Go5G Next plan, you'll be able to activate the deal starting on Jan. 24, so start planning your Hulu watch party accordingly.

How to watch Hellraiser online in the US

Hellraiser debuts exclusively on Hulu as part of the streaming platform’s “Huluween” celebrations on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022. Hulu’s frightening festivities will continue throughout the month of October with the platform showcasing a range of horror-themed content including the all-new American Horror Story: NYC, British horror film Matriarch, and menacing meme movie Grimcutty.

If Hulu follows its regular release pattern, horror fans can expect to check out this reimagining of 1987’s cult-classic and Clive Barker’s original novel from midnight PT and 3 a.m. ET.

How to watch Hellraiser online in Australia

Hellraiser makes its way to Australia a few weeks after its U.S. premiere via Paramount+ on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022. Making its way onto Paramount+’s seasonal “Peak Screaming” portal, Hellraiser will be available for Halloween screenings alongside other new releases like the eerie Significant Other, and kid-friendly Monster High: The Movie.

There’s currently no confirmed release time for Hellraiser in Australia. While new content generally premieres at the same time as it does in the U.S. (usually meaning 7 p.m. AET), Hellraiser’s delayed release could see the film available as early as midnight AET.

How to watch Hellraiser online in Canada and the UK

There’s no official word on when Hellraiser will be available to stream in the U.K. and Canada. However, when it is, it’s likely to find a home on the regular pipeline of Hulu content outside of the U.S., Disney+. With the streaming giant currently hosting its third annual “Hallowstream” celebration, it’s a safe bet Disney will be looking to bring Hellraiser to the platform before the month is out.

What is the plot of Hellraiser?

Both The Hellbound Heart novel and its 1987 film adaptation Hellraiser center around a mysterious puzzle box and the people that seek or stumble upon it. The box, known as the Lament Configuration, is the key to opening a schism to the Hell-like realm of the Cenobites — extradimensional beings who torture and torment their victims under the false promise of fulfilling their every desire.

While the Hellraiser franchise spawned 10 films, 21 stories, and dozens of comics, the series’ popularity waned as its lore became more and more convoluted. Hulu’s Hellraiser is a reimagining of the franchise, starting over with a fresh perspective on Clive Barker’s original vision.

The upcoming reboot sees Riley, a young woman struggling with addiction, come into possession of the enigmatic Lament Configuration. Suspecting the box is connected to her brother’s disappearance Riley seeks to unlock its secrets, unaware of its purpose and its ability to summon the supernatural Cenobites.

Who stars in Hellraiser?

Previously, no film in the Hellraiser franchise seemed complete without the casting of Doug Bradley as the extradimensional being referred to by fans as “Pinhead.” Although his appearance lasted for mere minutes in the original Hellraiser film, his portrayal of the Cenobite leader stole the show and catapulted the character to becoming a figurehead of the horror genre. However, fans have had to adjust to a Bradley-less franchise since 2018s Hellraiser: Judgement, when Paul T. Taylor took on the mantle of the fearsome Hell Priest.

This time around neither Bradley nor Taylor will reprise their role as “Pinhead,” with the character instead being portrayed by Sense8 actress Jamie Clayton. While some have critisized the casting, seeing it as a needless gender swap, the decision was seemingly made (at least in part) to avoid being lost in the shadow of Bradley’s iconic portrayal. Clayton’s casting allows for an entirely new take on the character, faithful to the source material but with plenty of room to make the role her own.

Other cast members include Odessa A’zion (Fam, Grand Army), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be OK), and Outer Banks’ Drew Starkey.

Good news for fans of Abbott Elementary in the U.K., Canada, and Australia: season 2 is heading your way via Disney+. Sadly, the bad news is that no date has yet been announced for the show's arrival. The first season of Abbott Elementary was released on Disney+ two months after the finale premiered in the U.S., but there is no confirmation that this season’s release will follow the same pattern. However, if it is repeated, fans of the show can expect a Disney+ release in spring 2023.

Not much is known about what to expect as Abbott Elementary heads into its sophomore season. However, what we do know tells us that show creator, writer, and star Quinta Brunson is hoping to recreate the magic of the show’s award-winning debut while aiming to keep things fresh. In an interview with Elle earlier this year, Brunson let a few details slip about what she and fellow cast members would like to see in season 2.

Brunson herself would love to see the teachers on more field trips; Sheryl Lee Ralph wants her character Barbara Howard to start a Sister Act 2-esque choir; Lisa Ann Walter wants her character Melissa Schemmenti, and the rest of the staff, to attend a teaching convention; and Tyler James Williams hopes for more of the will-they-won’t-they romance between his character Gregory Eddie and Brunson’s Janine Teagues.

Just how many of these ideas translate into actual episodes? We don’t know yet. However, ABC was kind enough to release the following synopsis for season 2’s opening episode “Development Day”:

“The teachers are back at Willard R. Abbott Public School for development week, a time to prepare for the upcoming year before the students’ first day of school. Post-breakup, Janine is determined to start the year off right and leave her problems at home. With this new outlook, she takes on organizing the faculty mixer and announces a special celebrity surprise she planned for the kids’ first day. Meanwhile, Ava runs a side hustle out of the school parking lot and Gregory, now a full-time teacher, is in over his head with the curriculum”

New episodes will release to the streaming platform every following Wednesday until this season’s finale in November. To avoid any potential spoilers escaping across the border, Crave will be releasing episodes in tandem with Hulu from midnight PT / 3 a.m. ET.

Canadian cable TV customers will also be able to watch the upcoming season of The Handmaid’s Tale via CTV. From Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022 season 5’s latest episodes will be broadcast on CTV Drama at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET. Episodes will then be available through CTV’s on demand platform shortly after.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 premieres on SBS in Australia on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022. Australian fans of the show will have their choice of ways to enjoy the latest episodes with SBS both broadcasting new episodes and making them available to stream via SBS On Demand. The first two episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 will be broadcast on SBS at 8:30 p.m. AET, with future episodes releasing every Thursday at 9:30 p.m. AET.

If you’d prefer to stream episodes with SBS On Demand then you can check out all the latest goings on in Gilead from as early as 2 p.m. AET. Episodes will then release at the same time each week up until episode 5, where the release time will be changed to 3 p.m. AET going forward. Based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of June Osborne/Offred (Elisabeth Moss) and her life in the fundamentalist, totalitarian society of Gilead. The state treats all women as second-class citizens and fertile women as property, forcing them to live as concubines or handmaids for government officials. 

Through the show’s many twists and turns, season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale sees June facing the consequences of killing Commander Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose. The widowed Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead's influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) works with Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke, and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.

The Handmaid's Tale season 5 release schedule: When will new episodes be released?

The Handmaid’s Tale returns for its fifth season on Hulu in the US, Crave in Canada, and SBS On Demand in Australia. The first two episodes of season 5 will be available to stream across North America on Hulu and Crave from Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, and in Australia on SBS and SBS On Demand from Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022. Episodes are set to arrive on their respective services from midnight PT (or 3 a.m. ET) and 2-4 p.m. AET. New episodes will premiere in the U.S. and Canada every Wednesday, and every Thursday in Australia for the remainder of season 5’s 10-episode run.

Currently, there is no confirmed release date for The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 in the UK and Ireland. However, the show will premiere on Channel 4 and be available to stream on the on demand service All 4 at some point in the coming months. Previously The Handmaid’s Tale has seen its UK release roughly two months after other regions, meaning season 5 is likely to arrive sometime in November.

What We Do in the Shadows makes its return to streaming platforms later this month with the sleeper hit beginning its fourth season. Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry) and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) reunite after last season’s dramatic end to Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch). Together again in their now somewhat decrepit Staten Island mansion, our favorite brood will wrestle with everything from wish-making and nightclub raving to child raising and a return to dating. A collective holiday cheer can now bellow out as Hulu's Watch Party feature is now available to all subscribers. When first released last May, the feature was only available to Ad-Free users but now ad-supported users can enjoy sharing and watching certain content with up to 8 friends or family members as well as chat about what they're watching. 

However, you can only use Watch Party on Hulu.com, on laptops, desktops, and tablets. The feature is still unavailable on smartphones or smart TVs.  Being that many watch content on their phones, it stands to reason Hulu will address this and smart TV users in a future update.

In a statement released by Hulu, the company expressed excitement at the idea of bringing families together during the Covid-19 pandemic in a safe way via the Watch Party feature. Families and friends like to gather around and watch holiday movies or sporting events and Hulu feels Watch Party gives them a safe, socially distanced option, to bring them all together.

Hulu's states," Viewers can now safely connect with their friends and family from the comfort of their homes to watch thousands of titles from Hulu’s on-demand streaming library. From the new Hulu Original film The Happiest Season to holiday episodes of beloved shows like The Golden Girls, This is Us, and Family Guy, Hulu is home for the holidays this season. Viewers can also tune into favorites like Pen15 and The Bachelorette, which have been popular titles for Watch Party during our testing period."  

So that's awesome and a great way to unite with family and friends but keep a safe distance. Even better, it may lower the chance for arguments over what to watch. To use Hulu's Watch Party, just click on the Watch party Icon while using Hulu and invite up to 8 friends or family members. Just make sure that all your invitees are over the age of 18.

Hulu Plus is almost available for mass consumption, and in the meantime,  the good folks over at Hulu granted us an early pass to check out their recently-announced premium subscription service.  We gave Hulu Plus a run on several platforms including the traditional web browser experience on our MacBook Pro, as well as the stand-alone preview application available now for the iPhone and iPad.  The iPhone and iPad application will allow anyone, even without a preview invite, to view a limited variety of content as well.  Hulu Plus will also be available for select Samsung web-enabled TVs, as well as the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 gaming consoles in the coming months.  Unfortunately, there's no word on whether Hulu Plus will come to Android devices.

Hulu Plus is a $9.99/month paid subscription service that differentiates itself from the standard Hulu Experience by offering the full current season of episodes from hit TV series on ABC, NBC, and Fox. For instance, over 188 full episodes of Saturday Night Live (ranging from season 1 to the current season, 35) are available on Hulu Plus, while only the last five episodes are available with Hulu standard. In addition, Hulu Plus will also offer a catalog of back season and full runs of popular TV shows from the past.

Our experience with Hulu Plus was mainly positive.  The video quality was a large improvement over previous efforts.  Anyone familiar with either Hulu Desktop or the Hulu.com website will immediately understand how to use Hulu Plus, as the interface looks virtually identical with no apparent differences outside the large amount of exclusive content. On the other hand, the iPad and iPhone versions offer the exact same functionatily, but are visually tailored specifically for each platform.

The iPad version of Hulu Plus, while well organized, doesn't appear as flashy as the ABC Player App.  For example the plain white backdrop that appears when activating the search function looks completely unfinished.  We also experience a few crashes and were booted out of the app while navigating through the interface as well.  Other than that, video content on the iPad looked great, and the start-up speed was nearly instant.  The queue function organizes your favorites shows and movies, while the history feature automatically bookmarks the elapsed position for any content you've viewed.  From there, you can pick up where you left off on any Hulu Plus enabled device.

The iPhone version of Hulu Plus was swift and intuitive as well. The quality of video was stellar thanks to its smaller screen, start up time was instant on both 3G and Wi Fi modes.  Nothing was sacrificed in the transition to the iPhone; the full Hulu experience is here in tact.  Unlike the iPad version, Hulu Plus on the iPhone didn't crash.  We booted up a number of movies, quickly backing out and restarting one after another- and the iPhone held up very well, resulting in a lag-free, crash-less experience.

With all its goodness however, Hulu Plus has a few caveats.  For one, some of Hulu's content is nowhere to be found on Hulu Plus- not for now at least.  Although Hulu Plus has a lot more exclusive content, Hulu episodes of hit series like Smallville, A&E's hit program Intervention, and more are noticeably missing. Even though many of these shows have a limited amount of episodes available on Hulu standard, the term "Plus" usually indicates the inclusion of everything and then some- but here with Hulu Plus, it's not the case.  Also, in contrast to other paid subscriptions services like Netflix, Hulu Plus still has commercial ads.  The general rule when purchasing mobile content is to enjoy an ad-free experience, so it's puzzling as to why Hulu would leave them in.  Still, these minor quibbles don't really detract from the overall experience, as Hulu Plus seems on course to satisfy even the most hardcore TV buff.

Hulu Plus is ideal for the users who wants a full archive of today's top TV series, and a huge backlog of classic content.  The ads, while annoying, maybe be what keeps the subscription costs at an affordable rate- still we'd like to see as little of them as possible.  We also feel that all of the content from Hulu standard should be viewable in Hulu Plus- maybe this can happen over time.  Hulu still has time to add a few stability tweaks, which we'd like to see for the ipad version, and hopefully they can cut down on the commercial breaks.  Other than that, we think Hulu Plus is on the right track.

The official announcement came today, but it's no surprise given that this has been in the works for a while. Hulu Plus, the $9.99/month paid service, is now open to a select few users at a time. The company blog hints that those who follow Hulu on Twitter or Like them on Facebook will get first crack at weekly invitations, but you can also request one here.

For $9.99 a month users will get access to all episodes of a number of popular shows. How is this different from Hulu before Plus? Now you get to pay. To be fair, some shows will be new to the Hulu service and other shows that only offered a few episodes at once will now offer the entire series run. But non-paying customers can look forward to fewer episodes on the free side of the pay wall and likely a smaller window for watching them.

Since the web-based Hulu isn't giving up the Flash-player anytime soon, iOS4 devices (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad) get an app to access Hulu Plus along with certain web-enabled Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players. Access via PlayStation 3 and XBox is coming soon, as are other, unnamed devices. Do you know which devices I do not see on that list? Android phones. Thanks, Hulu.

Another thing I do not see are the words "commercial free" anywhere. That's because Hulu Plus users will still have their shows interrupted by commercials. I wonder if that means non-Plus users will have to sit through more of them? That's something to look forward to. But hey, 720p HD viewing makes up for that, right?

For now I think I will stick with Netflix On Demand. For $5 I can watch commercial-free TV shows and movies, and I still get DVDs to boot.
